I am passionate about strengthening health systems and eliminating barriers that prevent individuals from the capabilities necessary to enrich their quality of life. Growing up in Nairobi, Kenya, I had a firsthand experience of how the freedom of choice, or lack thereof, can affect development, which served as the catalyst for working in development.
I have over 7 years of project management experience working in Eastern and Southern Africa in addition to working with firms specializing in the implementation of global health, education, and international trade.
Prior to joining Cooper/Smith, I served as a project manager at Chemonics International (Chemonics) managing the Afya Ugavi Activity, a country specific task order under the USAID funded Global Health Supply Chain-Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC-PSM) project. The goal of the Afya Ugavi Activity is to ensure that there is a well-functioning supply chain management system in Kenya that provides an adequate, safe, affordable, and reliable supply of health commodities. In this role, I was responsible for the day-to-day management and implementation of the technical, financial, and administration of program activities.
Before joining Chemonics, I was a legal assistant with the International Trade practice group at Wiley Rein LLP. I was responsible for liaising between attorneys, clients, and government agencies, as well as managing court cases at all phases of litigation at the Department of Commerce, Court of International Trade, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit
I hold a Master’s Degree in International Development with a focus on Global Health from the School of International Service at American University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology with a focus on social inequalities from George Mason University. I am a native Swahili speaker.
