New Business Manager
Cooper/Smith works with country governments and global health and development organizations to embrace a changing landscape and demonstrate concretely the value of programs to policy-makers and appropriators. Cooper/Smith supports large-scale data systems and use projects in Malawi (funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Digital Impact Alliance), works in Zambia with the Center for Infectious Disease Research, supports Catholic Relief Services in Malawi and Madagascar, advises the Government of Canada’s Minister of International Development, the Center for Strategic and International Studies, the International Fund for Agricultural Development, the Global Fund, and the World Bank, as well as participates in numerous global and local technical and advisory groups.
We are hiring a creative, passionate, and self-motivated individual to serve as our New Business Manager.

1) New Business Development
> Work with our Managing Director & Administrative Director and technical team to identify and select opportunities
> Manage proposal submissions, including providing inputs and documentation to both primes and directly to donors with assistance from the team [both technical and budgetary]
> Identify and pursue teaming opportunities
> Represent Cooper/Smith at bid development meetings
> Represent Cooper/Smith at international and domestic conferences and meetings
> Provide strategic input and direction on growth opportunities
2) Project Management
> Work with our Managing Director & Technical Director to ensure that high-quality, cutting-edge deliverables are submitted to clients in a timely manner and on budget, consistent with Cooper/Smith’s commitment to technical excellence
> Serve as the direct liaison to donors and clients to submit and receive feedback on project deliverables
> Work with Cooper/Smith’s technical team to oversee the completion of project deliverables and coordinate with relevant consultants to integrate technical inputs or support
> Opportunity to provide input into deliverables based on interest and skillset
3) Consultant Management
> Work with Cooper/Smith Management team to identify and recruit consultants
> Work with Cooper/Smith Management team to manage consultants and ensure a comprehensive and up-to-date roster of consultants based on upcoming deliverables
> Liaise with consultants to ensure timely deliverables and help ensure quality products with input and guidance from the Technical Director & Managing Director.
> Three plus years of progressive business development experience at large international development firm (global health a plus).
> Project management experience in international development (global health a plus)
> And/or two plus years of consultant management experience for large scale international development projects
> And/or three plus years of experience representing an organization in meeting with clients (including partner governments, high level donor stakeholders, international organizations, bi-lateral donors)
> Experience working with multidisciplinary teams in international settings and familiarity with commonly encountered organizations in international development [donors, multilaterals, consulting firms, etc.]
> Bachelor’s Degree in related field
> Foreign languages a plus
> Willing to travel both domestically and internationally 20-30% [approximately 4-6 trips a year, often for 2 weeks at a time]
> Eligibility to obtain a visa for Malawi, Zambia, Rwanda, Liberia, Cameroon, Tanzania, Canada, Switzerland, France, UK, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, South Africa
