Marty is a Senior Program Officer on the HIV team at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Marty supports investments in optimizing models for delivery of HIV prevention and treatment programs, strengthening country-led health information systems and improved use of health data, and building key systems and capabilities to enable long-term, country-led, sustained HIV control in sub-Saharan Africa. Marty is also the HIV team’s focal point for all investments in Malawi.
Previously, Marty worked as Public Policy Manager at the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative, with the Pangaea Global AIDS Foundation developing a community health worker program in Tanzania, and with the University of California, San Francisco developing HIV prevention strategies focusing on women and youth. Marty began his career in the HIV field coordinating a support program for monolingual Spanish speakers living with HIV in Portland, Oregon. Marty has a Master’s in Public Policy from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, and a BA in Latin American Studies and Sociology from Wesleyan University.
