Senior Technical Advisor

Simon Ndira holds a degree in Organization and Information Management from Ludwigshafen Fachhochschule in Germany, a Master’s degree in Public Health from LSHTM, UK, and a PhD in Medical Informatics from Heidelberg University in Germany.

Simon began his career in 2001, working in risk management and information systems security, first with KPMG Mannheim Germany, then with Deloitte and Touche in Frankfurt Germany as an Enterprise Risk Services Advisor. Simon has also worked with Merck KGaA as an Internal Auditor, focusing on information systems security and business process audits. He has worked in information systems security in several countries across Europe, the US, and Asia and also served as Deputy Director of MIFUMI, a human rights INGO based in Uganda from 2005 to 2011, during which time he managed a workforce of over 100 staff and volunteers.

Simon’s doctoral research was in the field of electronic medical records systems in Tororo district hospital Uganda 2004-2010. Following this, he conducted two health information systems strengthening missions in Kabul, Afghanistan 2011-2012. He then led the team that strengthened the National Health Information Systems Infrastructure for the Ministry of Health, Algeria under the PASS programme 2012-2014. Simon has worked in Malawi as a Senior Health Information Systems Advisor seconded to the Ministry of Health since 2015.

His professional experience spans the field of health information systems, eHealth, mHealth, digital solutions conceptualization and design, information systems security, project management, and the management of teams across different organizational levels (strategic, tactical, and operational). Simon speaks English, German, and French.
